New South Wales → Australian Security Licence (overview) → NSW
Security licensing in New South Wales is administered by NSW Police Force, through the Security Industry Registry, with licences granted by the Commissioner of Police, under the Security Industry Act 1997 (No. 157) and the Security Industry Regulation 2016 (amended 1 June 2023).
Licences run for either 1 or 5 years, chosen at application. All applicants must pass a National Police Check as part of the licensing process, and the underlying qualification (Certificate II or III in Security Operations) is nationally accredited even though the licence itself is issued by the state.
